Belinda Stronach is a Canadian businesswoman. She is a former member of Parliament in The House of Commons of Canada. Stronach is The President of The Stronach Group, an entertainment and real estate company.
Belinda Stronach was born in Ontario. She attended York University, where she studied business and economics. Stronach started her career at Magna International. Stronach was a member of the board of directors. She eventually worked her way up to become Executive Vice President. During this time period, Stronach helped found The Canadian Automotive Partnership Council.
As a result of her hard work, Stronach was eventually named the CEO of Magna. While she was CEO, Stromach strived to continue promoting Magna’s principles and culture. She helped create new friendships with some of her peers. Stronach’s networking efforts helped Magna grow their profile throughout North America. Under her leadership, Magna added thousands of jobs in Canada and recorded substantial profit margins. After leading Magna, Stronach created The Stronach Group.
Achievements
Belinda Stronach is a former recipient of The Beth Shalom Humanitarian Award. Stronach was honored for her great humanitarian service. Stronach was also involved in The Millennium Promise Convention. The purpose of the convention was to ask Canadians to help children in Africa who were impacted by Malaria. Stronach created the organization Spread The Net, which helped raise money to buy clean bed nets for African families, reducing their chances of catching Malaria.
Stronach created her own foundation. The Belinda Stronach Foundation supports creative projects that help defeat challenges concerning young girls and women. Stronach’s foundation has partnered with The Tony Blair Faith Foundation, The Canadian Club of Toronto and The Economic Club of Canada. The foundation is responsible for bringing The One Laptop Per Child Program to Canada. The One Laptop Per Child Program combines great technology with important programming to deliver learning strategies to Aboriginal children throughout Canada. Stronach helped establish Belinda’s Place, the first emergency and transitional housing facility in the York Region.
Getting Into Politics
Belinda Stronach served as The MP for Newmarket-Aurora. While Stronach was a member of The Conservative Party, she favored some liberal policies. Stronach supported the idea of a free vote in Parliament. Stronach also supported Canada’s trade agreement with The United States. Eventually, Stronach joined The Liberal Party. Stronach was elected Chair of The Liberal Women’s Caucus. She also received The EVE Award from Equal Voice. Stronach was honored by Time Magazine and Fortune Magazine.
