Chinese New Year just arrived and Blockchain Cuties is celebrating with a new digital gift offering. The game, which is a decentralized crypto collectible game, is available on top of the Ethereum, EOS, and Tron platforms. The developer will send out digital gifts while also releasing new virtual pets for their players in conjunction with Chinese New Year.
As Cointelegraph reported, the game developer announced they will give out “lucky red envelopes” to players as part of the new offering. In addition, players will receive digital gifts and there will be new virtual pets released. Those pets will be Pigs, which coincides with the animal represented for Chinese New Year.
Pigs will be available on the Cutie Market or through the use of special tickets given away during the game’s holiday event. The red envelopes are part of a Chinese New Year tradition. These are packets that family members give as gifts for the celebration and are usually filled with money for “good wishes and luck.”
The Blockchain Cuties game first arrived in April of 2018 via the Ethereum platform. In November, the company partnered with EOS and the game became the first to officially support two blockchains at once. As of December of last year, Tron joined in to add the game on their platform. After that third platform joined in, the game updated to include special items, locations, and Tron Cuties.
Blockchain Cuties is one of a number of blockchain-based games involving crypto-collectibles. The first blockchain game was CryptoPunks in June 2017, followed by CryptoKitties. Blockchain Cuties expanded upon the kitties idea as different animals were included such as puppies, bears, lizards, or “fantastic creatures.”
The Chinese New Year officially started on Tuesday with the Pig as the official animal for the latest year. It will become the year of the rat on January 25, 2020, so it should be interesting to see how Blockchain Cuties implements the next animal among its cute pets.
