This month has been a very good month for blockchain, Earlier today we got tipped by one of our readers who lives in Colorado. He mentions that Jared Polis, the governor of Colorado has added blockchain as one of the topics in his political campaign for 2018. We got in touch and found out that the tip we received was true, In fact they made it live on their blog.

As found on their blog, Mr. Polis plans to take 5 actions in regards to making use of the blockchain technology to the fullest they are, “Voter Protection”, “Regulatory Sandbox and Securities”, “Energy load balancing”, “Government transparency”, “Council for advancement of Blockchain Technology use.”

In the first action which is “Voter Protection // Bolster Colorado’s Cyber security.” Mr. Polis will make the government and election systems secure, transparent, and efficient in Colorado. He says,

As a governor, I will coordinate with the Secretary of State and lawmakers to make sure we can empower local communities to explore improving municipal and county elections through the implementation of blockchain technology.

He also adds,

We will also work alongside the Council of the Advancement of Blockchain Technology Use to create suggestions that will revamp and bolster our cyber network.

The governor’s 2nd action would be, “Regulatory Sandbox and Securities” with this project, Mr. Polis would try to exempt cryptocurrencies from the state money transmission laws. He’ll also work with the legislature to protect cryptocurrencies and open blockchain tokens.

In the third action, the government would implement “Energy load balancing.” This is a wonderful act and its implementation could make Colorado as one of the leaders in renewable energy market. The governor with the State of Colorado and PUC (Public Utilities Commission.) would work to explore blockchain-based solution. This act could make energy much reliable and cheaper for residents of Colorado.

The Fourth Act is about bringing “Government transparency”, with this act, Mr. Polis wants to make the government expenditures, revenues and all other things open to public. It would bring transparency to the public as they’ll be knowing where their tax money was spent. This also can help in improvement of Government services.

The Fifth Act is creating a “Council for advancement of Blockchain Technology use.” This council be in direct connection with the government and would make sure that the blockchain applications are solving problems. They also will be identifying new problems and research them and make blockchain applications which will solve them.

Earlier to this month, the The State of Ohio passed a legislation which would make it the first blockchain-friendly state. With the acts proposed by Mr. Polis, Colorado could become the second blockchain-friendly state and could be the nation’s leader in Blockchain Technology.

Note: This information was found on Mr. Polis’s blog, As a news publication our job is to report about it. We won’t be held responsible if the government decides to not work on the proposed applications.
