According to an official press release on August 9th, US Satellite service provider DISH has added Bitcoin Cash as a payment option, stating that it has migrated to BitPay payments provider. It was one among the first companies to accept Bitcoin payments in 2014.

Customers can make cryptocurrency payments in Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. John Swieringa, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at DISH said,

“We’ve added Bitcoin Cash just as we chose to accept Bitcoin to serve customers who have adopted a new way of doing business,”

He also added,

“We have a steady volume of customers paying with cryptocurrency each month, and BitPay will allow us to continue offering more choice and convenience to our customers.”

As mentioned in the press release, DISH customers can pay both BTC and BCH for monthly subscriptions and pay-per-view movies. They just have to send the amount in a push transaction to the company. Many DISH customer have preferred using Bitcoin in the past because, the transaction is not just seamless, but it’s also 100% secure.

Sonny Singh, Chief Commercial officer at BitPay said,

“Our goal for DISH Network is a seamless transition to BitPay so all customers who are currently paying for services with Bitcoin continue to have the option to pay with Bitcoin or Bitcoin Cash”

Mr. Singh also adds,

“Cryptocurrency is an increasingly popular way for consumers to make purchases online as it reduces credit card fraud and is cheaper for the merchants.”

Earlier today, we reported about CryptoMKT’s initiative to provide cryptocurrency payment options in Chile. It’s not easy for a payment gateway to be able to provide crypto payments but BitPay has been successful in acquiring a license for cryptocurrency payments from New York’s Department of Financial services (NYDFS) to be able to provide cryptocurrency payment options.
